Why I Want Millennials To Be Their Own Voice

mill voice.jpg

It’s way too common to see posts and articles out there about millennials, but usually not written by millennials. For some reason, people believe that what past generations say about us seems to be the truth. Well I am calling bullshit, and I am fighting it with my new project.

I have started Social Millennial, an online publication through Medium in order to share he stories, views, opinions, and live of millennials by millennials. A social millennial is a young person who has always lived in the digital age and understands the new social landscape of living online. We are unique, savvy, independent creatures with the desire to correct the meaning of millennials that has been placed on us by past generations through our stories and musings.

This is to give millennials the opportunity to use their voice to speak for themselves for once, instead of having the previous generations make assumptions. And in order to do this, we need millennials to share themselves through their writing.

Seriously, I definitely can’t do this alone, and I have a small but awesome team set, but we would adore it if you joined us or even just shared a single story. I want this to be a collection of many voices to show how diverse millennials really are.

To learn more about joining the team, whether recurring or not, you can read this Be A Social Millennial article with all of the info. And if you don’t want to write with us, please read along and follow our stories.

What a great idea! Good job on taking initiative and being a voice out there. That takes guts.

I love this idea! I look forward to checking out your millennial blog.

  5. Interesting. As the mom a very impressive Millenial young man, I have to admit that I don’t think at all like you guys. Our generations have grown up completely different – just like my parents had trouble understanding those of us who were born in the 70s.

My son is very much an outdoorsman, though, preferring to climb a mountain than chat online, and is currently studying to be a Conservation Officer.
