Artist Spotlight: Halsey

halsey

Halsey is a Indie Pop singer-songwriter from New Jersey who’s singles have made a strong impact on her career and album Badlands.

On August 28th, Badlands was released, but Halsey was already making waves with her singles. She started by posting covers on YouTube before her first single Ghost, which she posted to Soundcloud and gained attention from record labels.

Her style is described as dark electronic indie pop, as compared to Lorde and Chvrches. My personal favorite tracks are Hold Me Down and New Americana, which are both on the album.

Halsey has toured with Imagine Dragons and performed at SXSW where she turned many heads. She describes her album as an “angry feminist record”, and you can hear in her lyrics how true that statement is.

You can listen to her album Badlands on Spotify.

I love her hair! Is it bad that I’m going to check out her music purely for that reason?? 😉
