How To Get Involved With A Busy Schedule

It’s practically destiny to have a very busy schedule while in college, especially the longer you are in college. With so much going on, it is hard to get involved in campus organizations and events. Here is how to keep doing the fun campus opportunities, even when you are super busy.

Keep A Planner

No matter what, I believe everyone should use a planner or a planning system to stay organized. When you have all of your deadlines, appointments, and important dates in one place, it’s easy to identify when you have free time to go to events or you can schedule events or club meetings into your planner so you don’t forget about what you really want to do.

I know at my university, there are many events that happen during lunch time. So it’s super easy for me to take my lunch to the weekly afternoon concert and both enjoy the event and eat my lunch, especially since I would have to eat anyway. See if there are meetings or events during your time for lunch and take your food there. Or, like with the concerts, take work with you to do while you listen to the music. Take advantage of being able to do multiple things at one time.

Buddy System

Have a friend be an accountability person to keep you going to club meetings or events you both want to attend. If you have someone who will motivate you to be involved and will do it with you, you will be more inclined to go and have fun.

All in all, you may not be as busy as your stress will make you feel, and it is good to take a break from all of that work and do something you enjoy.

Yep, definitely always going to be busy! But it’s all about multi-tasking and prioritizing. As yourself each day…. what are the top 3 things I need to accomplish? Then, go make sure you do those things. Wish you nothing but the best! xoxox, Kayla

  2. Even now that I’m not in college anymore I am super busy! I work, blog, and do theater which takes a lot of time (in addition to taking care of a house and cats!). I think I’m incapable of eating lunch without multitasking lol. I do a lot of my blogging over my lunch hour.

  3. Great tips! It’s so easy to get stuck in the “I’m too busy” drama and then you realize that your life is not that interesting because you’ve made it so small. I agree that keeping a planner is a great idea and getting a friend involved always helps reduce the tendency to back out at the last minute. Thanks!

I live by my planner. I am never without it, and it has saved me so many times! I also think it’s so important to get involved. Not just in college, but even more so when/if you have kids- it’s so key to be involved in the kids’ school. I am so glad I made that commitment because it’s nice to know what’s going on!

    Visiting from Authentic Bloggers

I would be lost without my planner! Not in college anymore, but definitely helped me out when I was in college.

When life gets really busy, I usually make an effort to set aside specific time slots to relax beacuse otherwise I’d simply forget about it… Thanks for your tips!

  7. I share this with students at a local university when I’m talking about resume building. This is a great place for them to learn how to be productive, success students and prepare them for the workplace.
