Liebster Award

For those of you who don’t know, the Liebster Award is  a thing where bloggers nominate fellow bloggers with under 300 followers to answer questions and share our readers with these other great blogs. Thanks to Taylor at Dear Friends for nominating me.

As for nominations, I couldn’t think of many bloggers to nominate because my attention and time has been deeply invested in school lately. So if you are reading this and have a blog, I nominate you!  You will answer the same questions as I do below, and leave your blog URL in the comments so I can read your posts. Now for my answers!

How did you decide on the title of your blog, and what’s it about?

I am a photography enthusiast, and love to spend time behind my camera. I also find that my way of seeing the world differs from the people around me, so I took those two ideas together and created Look Through My Lens, where you can see how I see the world both literally (in my photos) and figuratively. I most often blog about feminism, college, and lessons I learn from movies, TV, and books.

What is it that you love the most about blogging?

It’s my little piece of the Internet to call home, and I can write about whatever I want. Sometimes I feel like no one is listening to me, so that’s why I go to my blog, so I can find people who agree and disagree with me, and I know are listening to what I have to say.

Can you give 11 random facts about yourself?

1. My birthday is a minor holiday (Flag Day)

2. I am an undergrad at CSU Sacramento

3. I made my own degree program

4. I’m a born and raised Cali girl

5. I’ve been to 28 states in the U.S., Germany, and Mexico

6. I love Baz Luhrmann films, and wish I lived in one

7. I cry over stories in books more than anything else

8. I danced for 12 years, specifically ballet

9. I LOOOOOOOOVE chocolate

10. I gave a speech at my high school graduation

11.  I cannot stand not having music, because white noise drives me crazy

What is your favorite food? Favorite candy?

FOOD! I’m a meat and potatoes girl for sure. And I already mentioned my deep admiration for chocolate.

What is an item you cannot live without? (You can have more than 1!)

This is hard. I’d have to say my family (that’s an item right?) because I’m super lucky to have a supportive and loving family 24/7.

What would you do if you couldn’t use the Internet or TV for a month?

Go a little crazy, and read more books because I have so many books I haven’t read yet because of school taking over my life.

What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Leaving home at 17 to travel the country with strangers for a whole summer.

If you had to give yourself a new name, what name would you pick?

I quite like my name, so I don’t think I’d change it. But I like unique names, they feel special and creative.

If you won $1 million in the lottery, what would you do with it?

Pay off student debt, save it, buy a car

What is something you do when you need to take time for yourself?

Read books, listen to music, or bake.

Where do you see yourself in five years time?

Hopefully, I will be living in Portland, Oregon, either getting my masters or working for a non-profit, still writing. If I’m going to dream big, I’d want to be giving big talks like TEDTalks and maybe publish a book and start my own charity. It’s a big wish list I know.

  2. We have a lot in common. I often wonder what I would do with $1 million…but by the time the taxes are taken out, you really don’t have a hole lot left. I’m sure I would have it spent in 1 weekend! And I hope you do make it to Portland Oregon, I’ll be looking forward to seeing your pictures from there 😀
